Introducing Santorini Blue

Introducing Santorini Blue

It’s no secret that my team and I love blue, and our new Santorini Blue is perfect for refreshing your home for summer decorating.

Two years ago, I had the privilege of visiting the stunningly beautiful island of Santorini, Greece. Famous for its white washed buildings, steep cliffs, and cerulean blue domes, this island makes you feel like you have stepped back in time.

My family and I stayed in Imerovigli which I would highly recommend. Imerovigli sits up the highest, has the most spectacular views of the island and entire caldera. It is more quiet, residential, and local feeling. Oia was also a beautiful place to visit, shop, and to watch the sunset, but was filled elbow to elbow with tourists.

The blue paint on the domes is the result of a chemical reaction between a common household blue-tinted cleaning agent used for laundry and the limestone. Since it was an inexpensive and commonly owned household product, the white and blue quickly became a dominant color scheme. Now, that cerulean blue color is strongly associated with Greek tourism and the Cyclades island architecture.

So this summer, in celebration of travel opening back up, I wanted to create a new glaze color that embodied the spirit of Santorini, Greece. Bright, vivid, and vivacious. I hope you all love Santorini Blue as much as we do!
