The Hydrangea Bowl Collection
•Posted on July 31 2020

Introducing the Hydrangea bowls! These hand-painted ceramic bowls are gilded with my signature 22k gold edges. Each bowl features a unique “pattern” of hydrangea watercolor glaze paintings. I could not be more excited to finally put these happy works of art into production and offer them to you all!

Last spring, I spent two full days sitting at the glazing table painting a single bowl. It was a prototype for a new series of bowls featuring hydrangeas painted like they are floating on the waves of the bowl. The goal was for it to look like a wallpaper had appeared on the inside of my bowls. It was challenging and fun to figure out how to make glaze mimic a watercolor painting. There’s a bit of mystery with using glazes, as the chemicals look flat and chalky before firing to over 2200 degrees. After they come out of the kiln, however, the colors look rich and glossy.

Before debuting these bowls, we went through about a half-dozen prototypes. I worked with my glazing team to tweak the application of glaze to get the colors just right after firing.

For our first release, we are offering sizes A (small), C (medium), E (medium/large), and G (large). I hope you love these hand-painted hydrangea bowls as much as I do. If you are not able to snag one in tomorrow’s release, be sure to join our email list as more will be released in the coming weeks.
